Professional Prints of Your iPhone Photos

Posted on by Kaitlyn in Featured, Tech | 1 Comment

I was very happy to see that my favorite professional printing company has launched a new app to allow me to upload and print the photos directly from my iPhone. I have used Mpix.com for a long time. As a photographer I am very picky about prints being true to the way I take or edit my photos, especially when I am working with paying clients. Mpix offers a quick turn around and unmatched quality for the price you pay. No, this is not a paid advertisement for Mpix, I really just love their prints that much.

I got an email today about their brand new app that allows me to upload and order prints of the photos I take on my iPhone (or iPad). There are some basic editing tools and the ability to order 4×6 or 5×7 prints with some other options for paper type. I personally take TONS of photos with my iPhone 4S and previously had to transfer them to my computer and then upload them to mpix.com. I might still do this for some of the photos if I want to order more than just prints, such as cards, mounted prints or other products.

I will probably be using this app this week because I am working on doing some scrap booking and I have tons of photos on my phone that I want to use in my books.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Sandwiches – Recipe

Posted on by Kaitlyn in Food, Recipes | 5 Comments

Maybe it’s a result of my pregnancy or maybe it was my husband talking about how much he was craving cookie dough but somehow I ended up on Pinterest looking at the most delicious photos of cookies. I came across some delicious looking things but my husband stopped me when he saw the chocolate chip cookie dough sandwiches.

They consist of 2 soft melt-y chocolate chip cookies and an egg free cookie dough filling. The whole recipe took about 2 hours, mostly because after making the dough for the actual cookies it required at least an hour of cooling time. I ended up putting mine in the freezer for a few minutes after refrigerating for an hour to make it easier to roll into balls for baking.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Sandwiches

Two chocolate chip cookies are stuffed with eggless chocolate chip cookie dough. Cookie and cookie dough lovers will go crazy for these sandwich cookies.

ingredients:

For Cookies:

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups mini semisweet chocolate chips

For Cookie Dough:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup mini semisweet chocolate chips

directions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat together butter and sugars until no lumps remain, 1-2 minutes. Beat in eggs and vanilla extract, scraping the sides of the bowl to make sure all of the ingredients are incorporated. Add flour, baking soda, salt, and mix until smooth. Stir in mini chocolate chips. Cover and refrigerate dough for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Roll chilled dough into smooth, tablespoon-size balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Flatten balls slightly into 3/4-inch disks. Place disks about 2 inches apart on parchment or Silpat lined baking sheets. Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until cookie edges are slightly golden brown. Let cookies cool on baking sheet for about 5 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack and cool completely.
  3.  To prepare the cookie dough filling, beat together butter and brown sugar in a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Mix in flour, powdered sugar, and salt on low speed until incorporated. Slowly add heavy cream and vanilla extract and beat until fluffy, about 2 minutes. Stir in mini chocolate chips.
  4. To assemble, sandwich 1 heaping tablespoon of filling between two cookies. Press cookies lightly until filling spreads to the edges. Repeat with remaining cookies.

Note: Sandwiches can be stored refrigerated in an airtight container, for up to 3 days. Let them sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before serving.

One Stop Designer Shopping – BerkChique

Posted on by Kaitlyn in Style | 2 Comments

Here in the Berkshires it has been great to see fashion really starting to get some spotlight. Thanks to people like Vicki Bonnington, owner of the popup shop BerkChique, we can now shop some awesome vintage designer pieces at a great price. I personally did not grow up with any knowledge of high end fashion but I have grown to appreciate the different qualities and aesthetics of the many great designers.

Not only can you find some great high end designer pieces you can also score some all around unique pieces. I completely fell in love with this Marilyn Monroe tank top and skeleton inspired sequin top. If I was not 6 months pregnant and actually had a waist I would have probably purchased more than I needed. If you are in the Berkshires before the shop closes up in January it is totally worth checking out!
